About

Welcome to A Little Bit of Lagniappe!!

My name is Alyson Owen. I’m a wife, mom, friend, daughter, dreamer, and believer. I’ve been married to my husband for 4 years and a mom for almost 2 years. I live in a small town in Louisiana called West Monroe.. I don’t know of everyone here but I often feel like I do. It’s definitely different than anywhere else I have ever resided.

I’ve been wanting to join the blogging world, and decided to jump on the train in the Fall of 2014. I love sharing my thoughts, recipes, faith, struggles, and stories with everyone. Lagniappe is a French word meaning ‘something given as a bonus or extra gift.’ That’s what I wanted this blog to become..something as a bonus or gift to others. Something that can give you a getaway from whatever it is you’re going through in life.

I will be blogging about anything and everything from motherhood to faith to struggles to recipes. You never know what you’re getting into with me. I won’t tell you how to do something, but hopefully offer up a few ideas for you. Also, I would love to hear your ideas as well!

Blogging is therapeutic for me. I hope to inspire many people someday, so I’m getting started now! Please join me!

Thanks for the follow! I’m looking forward to reading yours as well 🙂 Your husband’s name sounds familiar… Aren’t y’all related to the Robertsons?

  5. Hi Alyson, I have nominated you for the One Lovely Blog award. I learned from a fellow blogger to offer a bouquet of flowers for those who are not accepting awards or are too busy at the moment. Your blog is a feel-good one. Your family beautiful and the words you write!

      • Right On! I feel the same way about being nominated. It is an honor and I understand what it takes to present an intelligent and soulful presence that is a creative blog. Your blog especially has meaning for me because when I first started back in October, I immediately was drawn to yours and I think it is your cousin’s blog ’cause I’m a Southern girl who hasn’t been back home to Tennessee in too many years to count. So I feel closer to the land down there through your very genteel and holy words and pictures. Beautiful family!
OK, back to the award. What I did was follow almost to the T with a few written personalizations, the way the person who nominated did it. So go ahead and follow what I did, even to the flowers. I thought that was a nice touch. I saved the bouquet as computer pic so you would plug it in through the media button on the blog.
Also you can go to Sally’s website and see how I followed what she did and you get an idea of how I just made a few minor changes when I sent out my nominations. As far as I know, we wait to see if we won after it’s all said and done. With the research I did, honestly, it took me about three days to present a finished award blog but I learned so much about those I nominated and that was worth it all!

I just want to let you know that I love you and I don’t even know you! I think that you are a wonderful person and mother and you inspire me so much to enjoy the little things in life and the things that truly make me happy. I have 2 baby boys ages 2 and 1 and reading your posts help me in more ways than you know. I started following your Instagram when you had Carter (I think thru korie robertsons ig maybe) and I have followed yours and his story ever since. I was so excited when you got a blog! I just wanted to let you know that I relate to you and your blogs so much and I really appreciate them!
